Why AXiD... From an In-State, Out-Of State, and 2nd Year Transfer AXiD

In-State, Abby Simon

When asked, “Why Alpha Xi Delta?”, I always find myself pausing — not because I don’t have an answer, but because there are simply too many. Becoming a sister in Alpha Xi Delta has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s hard to put into words how much this sisterhood has impacted me, but the love, support, and sense of belonging I’ve found here are unlike anything else.

Before joining, I always admired people who had older sisters to look up to. Now, through Alpha Xi, I have over 200 of them. From spontaneous late-night talks to the loudest cheers at campus events, there’s never a dull moment when you’re surrounded by women who genuinely care about you. Every sister I’ve met radiates authenticity and kindness — they challenge me to grow, to lead, and to be confident in who I am.

Alpha Xi Delta has become my home away from home. It’s where I’ve found my biggest cheerleaders, my role models, and my lifelong friends. This sorority isn’t just about letters or traditions — it’s about the people who live by them every day. Choosing Alpha Xi Delta means choosing love, laughter, and a forever family — and I can’t imagine my college experience without it.

Out-Of State, Grace Buch

As an out of state student who grew up without any sisters, joining Alpha Xi Delta has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I have ever been a part of. Coming to Tech, I was unsure about going through the primary recruitment process, but I am so glad I chose to do so. From the moment I stepped into Alpha Xi for the first time, every girl has created an immense sense of home and belonging. Each Alpha Xi has such a unique personality and values that they bring to the Gamma Eta chapter. This chapter truly dedicates ourselves to be our absolute best for our other sisters and supporting them to no end. Already, I have seen sisters go out of their way to aid other girls in Alpha Xi, no matter their age, year, or member class. I have experienced how Alpha Xi caters a supportive environment through academics, leadership, health, in our community, and so much more. Not only that, but Alpha Xi simply has provided me with such a large group of girls who I can always talk to or rely on. Whether through recruitment, the big-little process, sisterhood events, or other occasions, I have met girls of all ages, backgrounds, and personalities that have already taught me so much, made me a better person, and have made Alpha Xi a home. There is truly a person, position, and place for everyone at Alpha Xi Delta!

2nd Year Transfer, Lily Kowall

Coming into tech as a transfer student, being a part of Alpha Xi Delta has truly been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Switching schools can be intimidating, getting to know classes, making friends, and knowing where you fit in, but Alpha Xi Delta eased me into that transition so much. The sisters greeted me with open arms the very first time I met them, and they made me feel so loved in a way that Georgia Tech felt like home immediately.

The connections I’ve built through Alpha Xi Delta have been incredible. I’ve met people who inspire me every day, women who are ambitious, kind, and genuinely care about one another. Whether it’s hanging out in xi basement, coffee runs between classes, or just laughing together, these friendships have meant so much to me. The support I’ve received from my sisters, both academically and personally, has helped me adjust to the challenges of transferring to such a rigorous school.

My favorite aspect of Alpha Xi Delta is how much it makes me feel at home. It is not just an organization, it is a family that pushes me to succeed and be myself. I am so grateful for the friends I have made and the love I have received here. Alpha Xi Delta has made Georgia Tech go from being a new campus to a house where I am proud to call home.
