Civic Engagement & Civil Leadership Award Spotlight with Aaliya Cassoobhoy!

For Gamma Eta sister Aaliya Cassoobhoy, community responsibility means empowering others to become informed, engaged leaders. As a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying Public Policy and Computer Science, Aaliya is committed to assisting others in understanding the relationship between government, technology, and leadership.

As Vice Chair of the Government Relations Committee of the Student Government Association, Aaliya has helped facilitate discussions and debates to bring government closer to students by involving them in these activities. In the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, she has been the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion chair, where she has encouraged discussions around leadership and inclusivity and what sisters can do to make a difference.

The service to her community that Aaliya is devoted to can be seen outside of the university campus through internship in Washington, D.C., and by becoming the Youth Delegate at the Women in Tech Global Summit, where she delves into such topics as technology, policy, and ethical leadership on an international level.

Mentoring other students, generating involvement into civic life, and starting meaningful dialogues, Aaliya lives up to the very idea behind Alpha Xi Delta, which is fostering the sense of community responsibility.
